Between Songs, Smiles, and Maibra - My Bwisagu

Image
Khulumbai!  It’s been almost a month since I last sat down to write here and I really felt that gap. This space always feels like a quiet corner of my thoughts, and I missed coming back to it. But the past few weeks were filled with something very close to my heart, preparations for Bwisagu . As Bwisagu was approaching, my days slowly got wrapped in that familiar feeling of excitement. Cleaning the house, arranging things, thinking about food, planning everything, it all felt so warm and nostalgic. But this year, I did something I had never done before. For the first time in my life, I made Maibra ni Bidwi at home. Honestly, I was a little unsure at the beginning. I kept thinking, will it turn out right or not? But somewhere inside, I really wanted to try. And when it was finally ready, it wasn’t just about the taste… it felt like I had created something that connects me to my roots, to our tradition. That feeling was something else. Bwisagu has always been very special...

How Motherhood Unmade Me… and Remade Me

Image
Khulumbai ! Before becoming a mother, I truly didn’t know what it meant to be one . No one tells you that motherhood can slowly drain you into places you never imagined physically, mentally, emotionally until one day you look at yourself and don’t fully recognize who you’ve become. Before all of this, I was calm, carefree, someone who lived gently. I rested when I wanted, did what I loved, and never had to think twice about putting myself first. I thought I knew life. I didn’t. Pregnancy wasn’t the hardest part for me. It came with changes, yes, but nothing that shook me deeply. It was after she was born, when everything inside me began to shift. I remember looking at my baby for the first time. I was happy… but there was also a strange sadness sitting quietly inside me. A feeling I didn’t understand, and honestly, didn’t expect. Because this was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life. So why didn’t it feel that way? Days passed, and my life changed completely. My rout...

The Truth No One Told Me About My First Moment as a Mother

Image
Khulumbai! Being a mother is often described as the most beautiful feeling in the world, and it truly is. But sometimes, even this beautiful feeling comes with moments that make you quietly question yourself. I want to be brutally honest about something I’ve never really said out loud. When I first found out I was pregnant , I was genuinely happy. There was excitement, hope, and so many dreams about the little life growing inside me. I had already imagined my baby in a certain way - soft, chubby cheeks, smooth skin, always smiling… just like the babies we see in movies and TV shows. But when I first saw my daughter after delivery, I felt something I wasn’t prepared for. Yes, I was happy… but there was also a strange sadness inside me. I remember looking at her and thinking,  is this really my baby? She wasn’t what I had imagined. Her skin had rashes , she wasn’t that “perfect” movie-like baby I had built in my mind. And in that moment, I felt confused and even disappointed...

I'm a mother of a toddler!

Image
Khulumbai! I’m a mother of a toddler, trying to get through each day one step at a time. Some days go smoothly, most don’t, and that’s okay. Life right now is a mix of routines, interruptions, small wins, and constant learning . This blog is where I’ll be sharing that journey. I’ll write about my everyday life as a mom ; the good days that feel manageable, and the difficult ones that test my patience. From simple routines to emotional moments, this space will reflect what parenting actually looks like for me. At the same time, I come from a background in journalism. I’ve worked as a news content writer for around nine years, and that habit of observing and thinking about what’s happening around us hasn’t gone away. So this blog won’t be limited to parenting. I’ll also be sharing my views on current situations, politics, social issues, and global events, not as an expert, but as someone who has spent years in the news space and now sees things through the lens of a mother. This is not a...
